The Natural and Healthy Lifestyle we Discovered Along the Way…

18 years ago… July 24, 2017

Eighteen years ago, I had this brand new, sweet and healthy, blue-eyed, chubby little girl. After her first round of vaccines she stopped growing. At four months old I was told to start solids early to try to get her to gain weight; that just weakened her immune system and she got sick. She was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive soon afterwards. At this point she was so tired of throwing up after each feeding that she would nurse as little as possible and suck her fingers instead to avoid it.

On my own accord, I had began weeks earlier trying to change our families diet for the better to fix some issues. I took away dairy, then wheat, but it wasn't until I took out gluten that I noticed that the baby stopped throwing up after nursing. It only took three days of that and it was gone. After my daughter was no longer reacting to the food I ate, I worked several months to wean her from sucking her fingers and taught her to be a good little nurser. She was able to maintain her weight and slowly gain weight, she was weight checked every month and continued all her scheduled "well" visits. At a year old, she was only sixteen pounds, but she had good muscle tone and was content. She didn't start to gain weight at a more normal rate until I stopped vaccinating her after eighteen months old. She had a growth spurt years later, when I started detoxing her body of the vaccines.

At the same time my daughter stopped throwing up, I also noticed that our new gluten free diet had cleared my two year olds infant acne that he had since he started solids. This started the long journey to where I am today and the decisions I make about food, medicine, doctors, child- rearing, education, etc.

Over the years I have gone through times that I doubted what I had learned and I tried to just forget about it all, but there was always a physical or emotional side effect from someone making me go back to it. Believe me, it is not easy to be the odd one out, never fitting in, and having very little support.

So before you try to educate me with the latest research, please consider that I have already done the research and have seen the results myself. You can find research out there to support any outcome you would like to believe, but how do you know what is real? I live with the results everyday. Please don't try to dis-prove me, all you end up doing is discounting the last eighteen years of my life, with or without realizing it. We all try to do what is the very best for our children, I am no different. Please respect that and the things I do and I will do the same for you. I am all for knowledge and research, but do your own research, or at least research where the research is coming from. You'll be surprised at some of the sources and who funds specific research. I trust what I have learned from my own experiences as a mother and as a volunteer who has helped many new mothers. I've seen the results myself, not in theory.

The Flawed Germ Theory July 24, 2009

I love the look on people’s faces when I tell them germs don’t cause disease. First their faces crinkles as if they are unsure of what I just said. Most often they will say, “What?”
Then I repeat the concept, “germs are not the reason we get sick”
Then their brows get all crunched up and their lips come together in a half pout, half grump position.
Now I have to tell you, I don’t say this too often because I know the majority of people would simply not stick around long enough to hear why the hell I would say such a crazy thing. So I am careful as to who and when I say it.
Well I am saying it now to YOU. At this point the majority of you have been on my list for years and have been exposed to new ideas in the health field.  So I am praying you will be open minded to the concept. Understanding that the germ theory really is just a theory (never been proven) will change the way you think about many things. It will certainly become clearer that vaccines don’t work and that the best way to prevent illness, is to live a healthy lifestyle.
Below is a link to a Webnar scheduled August 10th in the US and the 11th in the UK.
The title is ” The Flawed Germ Theory” It is a must. Not sure what the good old doc will say but I know what you will say when your done listening, “WOW, that makes alot of sense.”
Please register as space is limited. You will get a confirmation number in your mailbox that is assigned only to you. it can not be shared.
Don’t want to bother, still think it is nuts. Fine, then answer this question. If we are all sitting at a round table, let’s say 5 of us. Johnny is feeling really lousy, coughing, sneezing, sniffling, getting his darn germs all over us, the table, and the food we are sharing. YUCK.
The next day 2 of us also get sick and 2 of us are perfectly fine. We were all exposed to the same germs at the same time in the same amount. Why don’t we all get sick?
Germs are everywhere. They are on your computer, in the air, on your clothes, in your body…billions. Everyday, everywhere. and guess what?  They don’t cause disease.
If you think I am wrong, then please listen to the webnar, then tell me why I am wrong. I would love to hear what you have to say.
Love, blessings and truth in health,

Chiropractic for Allergies May 14, 2009

Thank you Dr Leach for this article. My children and I get adjusted every other week. I can not believe how often others in our neighborhood, schools etc are sick and we are not. Of course we eat well too, but I know chiropractic care and an aligned spinal cord are keys to keeping the body in tune.
Blessings and good health,
Dotty Scalco
PS. Don’t miss out on the 4th International Public Conference on Vaccination
Chiropractic for Allergies

On  May 7, 2009 a story was run on the ABC affiliate, KSPR out of Springfield Missouri, which featured help for allergies through chiropractic. In this story Jami Lynn Lilly was an allergy sufferer who always had problems during the spring in Missouri. Her allergies would give her sinus problems and cause her eyes to water. She commented, “I get really bad sinus infections, for weeks I just look like I’m bawling all the time”

Jami finally decided to go to a chiropractor for her problem. After her first visit she reported improvement. She described the experience by saying, “He adjusted me one time for it, two three days my nose just drained and then I was fine after that.”

Jami’s chiropractor, Dr. Baca, was also interviewed in the news story and he raised an interesting question. “If there’s an allergy floating around out there what makes one person susceptible to it, when it doesn’t make all of us susceptible.” He then explained that the nervous system is the key. He stated, “Your nervous system controls every aspect of your body, including your immune system.”

The story noted that the nervous system is the master controller of the body. The spine protects the spinal cord thus protecting the messages that are carried over the nervous system. According to the article, Dr. Baca explained that, “If one of the vertebrae on your spine is out of place it could be putting pressure or irritating one of your nerves. Maybe the nerve that controls your sinuses, your head, your throat or your immune system.”

He further explained that this could be the reason why one person is susceptible to allergies while another in the same environment is not, “This person’s immune system isn’t functioning as well as this person’s immune system so it can’t fight the allergen off like it should.”

Jami explained that she never knew that chiropractic could help her allergies. She said, “I never knew it; I just came because my neck was bothering me.” The news story concludes by noting that. “Jami is a big believer now. She’s allergy free and passing the word on about allergies and chiropractic.”

E-news April 17, 2009

Hello listmates,
I hate to send out yucky news but I also believe we need to be informed to make powerful, healthful decisions for our families.
On my website I mention many things we need to change.
Below are three suggestions and articles supporting them.

ONE: BREASTFEED

Perchlorate chemicals found in baby formula.

TWO: GET SOME SUN

Link between autism and Vitamin D deficiency.

THREE: AVOID FLUORIDE

Cancer causing toxins in fluoride

On a good note the London Autism Rally was a huge success. See the video here.

Thank you Joan Campbell for your hard work.

Hope you are all enjoying the fantastic weather. We are in S. Florida and it has been unusually cool for this time of year and I love it.

For local folk, I will be at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Jensen Beach on the 25th of April. They are having their first Earth Day celebration. I will be there along with many other great folks vending. Come on by.

I will also be at Nutrition S’mart on the 23rd of May doing a lecture on the benefits of eating gluten free.

Stop by and say “hi”

Blessings and Happy Spring

E-news February 28, 2009

Hello Listmates,
Can you believe it is March already???
Where does the time go?  I am still cleaning up the mess from Christmas!
Last week I had a garage sale and it was wonderful. What a great way to clean up and make a few bucks.
I tend to give away more things than I sell because I believe we should recycle, and reuse. I would rather give it away than throw it away. Also when the sale is over, I pack up the van with what is left and drive over to Good Will.
Ok, I also bring some things back into the house after I realize, “I could use this”
I do less self gratifying shopping too. Sure it feels good to pick up something cute for myself or the house, but now I ask myself,” do I really need this? ” Not only will we save money by shopping smarter but we can help lessen the load of our already overflowing landfills.
So clean house, have a garage sale and shop less. You will find that once your house is cleaner, you won’t mind staying home so much. I used to get out ( and shop) because I hated looking at my mess all the time. Now I can sit back with a good book or cup of tea and not feel so creeped out. Clutter in your home usually equals clutter in your life.

Here are some declutter tips:

Many of you have heard about the 3 families who recently lost their fight in vaccine court but we rarely hear about the ones who win. The media doesn’t like to upset their sponsors who are mostly pharmaceutical companies. But many do win in court. . Below is an article about a recent WIN, followed by a  US Today ad, sponsored by Generation Rescue, letting it’s readers know about the court decision.

Another Autism Case Wins in Court:

USA Today full page ad published on Wednesday, Feb 25th.

I hate to report these things because truthfully, they make me sick. But we must stay educated and aware!

Babies Exposed to Harmful Toxins in Liquid Medicines

I just subscribed to YES magazine and I love it. In this month’s issue there is an article called ‘A World of Grace’  The link below is an excerpt from that article about all the different ways we say Grace in this world. You may enjoy reading it. No matter what our culture or religion, we really all want the same thing.

Adding More Raw Fruits and Vegetables to Your Diet

Can’t get your family to eat the now recommended 7-9 raw fruits and vegetables?
For eight years I have been approached by people trying to get me to buy the perfect vitamin/supplement/ cure all. Although I believe some supplementing is necessary for medicinal reasons I believe we can and should get our nutrients from our food. However, in today’s world, we simply are spending less and less time in the kitchen. We are looking for a fast fix and  many healthy meals take time to prepare; time Americans no longer have. I finally found a product I love and believe in. ( never buy anything without researching it first) It is Juice Plus. This is NOT a vitamin. it is a whole food supplement. JP contains 15 raw fruits, and vegetables plus 2 grains dehydrated and put in capsule or chewable form. It is a great way to get those essential phyto-nutrients that studies prove fight cancer, heart disease, etc. .
Visit my website and read the studies on Juice Plus.
If you are interested  in the Children’s Health Study, please email me privately. For each adult order, Juice Plus will provide  a free supply for a child age 6-15. All you need to do is fill out a questionnaire every 6 months on your child’s health.

Happy March, Happy Spring Cleaning and Cheers to Good  Health.
